In connection with the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, France has announced increased border police and customs controls at its national borders with Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy and Spain as well as at all air and sea borders between May 1 and October 31, 2024 (source: Federal Foreign Office).

Please check the necessity of the EU declaration / posting declaration and always have an A1 certificate ready.

According to the latest communication, the current 15-day visa-free entry to the People's Republic of China until 30.11.2024 for nationals of

• of the French Republic,
• the Federal Republic of Germany
• the Italian Republic,
• the Kingdom of the Netherlands,
• the Kingdom of Spain and
• of Malaysia

is planned to be extended from 14.03.2024 also for nationals

• of Austria,
• Switzerland,
• Ireland,
• Hungary,
• Belgium and
• Luxembourg

The exemption from the visa requirement is to be valid exclusively for the following purposes and provisions:

• Tourist - single entry - maximum stay of up to 15 days
• Business - single entry - maximum stay of up to 15 days
• Family visits - single entry - maximum stay of up to 15 days
• Transit

The exemption shall NOT apply for the following purposes:

• A stay of more than 15 days
• Multiple entries
• Holders of Austrian service passports
• All other categories not mentioned above (e.g. work visa, conference visa, etc.)

We would like to point out that the fasting month of Ramadan takes place from March 10, 2024 to April 9, 2024. Due to this, longer processing times must be taken into account for applications submitted to the consulates of Islamic states for this period and for the subsequent sugar festival.

According to the latest communication on entry regulations, the 15-day visa waiver does not apply to productive activities in China. Specifically, a visa is still required from the first day of entry if the stay is "for work purposes". In this respect, we recommend applying for a visa - especially for assembly work, for example.
